etymological musing #1

"misgivings": having given wrong, like "mistakes": having taken wrong.
illustration (etymological poem #1 by GFM):

I have my misgivings
I have made mistakes
ah! que c'est compliquee!
what belongs to whom.

curse this swapping game
the coveting I've done
your treasure would be safe
ungiven, unassumed.

You have your misgivings
You have made mistakes
we've grown to feel we own
what's only rightly borrowed.
